Frank Connell

Frank Connell

Interim Executive Director

Frank was raised in a household with a keen awareness of homelessness and its impact on human dignity. He recalls visiting his formerly homeless grandfather, a Veteran, and witnessing the substandard conditions widely available to the poorest among us. He did not know it at the time, but his grampa lived in an SRO. A resident of Milton, MA, Frank’s mother and father instilled in him a duty to see humanity in everyone, especially in those with less – and to honor it. The family spent Thanksgiving dinner serving shelter residents at Fr. Bill’s place and would routinely go out on a Friday night to serve dinner and dessert to the residents at Shattuck shelter. When the Boston Minstrels were double booked for the Shattuck / Hope Found Christmas party, Frank was eager to jump in and lead holiday carols.

Frank first encountered Caritas Communities as part of his MBA capstone project, consulting for the organization. He fell in love with the mission and decided to leave 16 years of full-time ministry at St. Mary of the Hills parish and school in Milton to lend a hand. Frank initially contributed to an increase in occupancy at Caritas Communities to levels not previously seen in the organization. He has also worked in the fund development department and leading strategic initiatives. As Interim Executive Director, Frank is focused on increasing efficiency while maximizing impact for Caritas residents. He remains in love with the mission.

Frank lives with his wife Katie, a Nurse Practitioner, and five wonderful children. He remains active as a volunteer in the Archdiocese of Boston and leads music every Sunday, playing guitar and singing for his church in Milton.
