Volunteering is about partnerships—and a shared vision. By lending a hand as a Caritas volunteer, you have the power to change someone’s life.

Volunteer

On the front lines of battling homelessness one room at a time, WE NEED YOU!

Volunteering with Caritas Communities is a rewarding, meaningful way to positively impact your life and your community. There are many ways to help that require as little or as much time as you have to share. Here are some of the benefits:

  • Help someone who feels very alone in the world.
  • Gain an understanding about how people become homeless and the fine line that exists between them and us.
  • Learn more about yourself and others.
  • Use your background and talents to make a difference.

Participate in Our Holiday Drive

With your financial support or donation of a resident wish list item you can be a part of providing a holiday gift to the 128 previously homeless men living at Central House in Cambridge.

Brighten the Holidays, Any Holiday

Collect winter wear for the colder months. Deliver Valentine’s Day cards. Provide a meal. Donate food cards.

Acknowledge Birthdays

We all deserve to have our birthdays acknowledged. Donate a monthly birthday cake. Adopt a Caritas residence to help celebrate a birthday.

Adopt-a-Residence

Would you like to adopt your own residence? With 29 other buildings, please ask and we will gladly get you started. You may be surprised at how simple, yet how meaningful, this can be.

Adopt-a-Resident

Offer to mentor a resident in basic finances, job readiness, job applications, simple healthy cooking.

Adopt–a-Room

Outfit a kitchen with its necessities or create a feeling of home in a common room by providing comfortable furnishings, lighting and games.

Run a Workshop

Offer to teach a group about basic finances, job readiness, applying for a job, shopping and healthy cooking. Lead a group in an artistic, musical or writing endeavor.

Get Your Company Involved

Build workplace connections through a shared interest and activities, like…

  • Schedule a Day of Service to paint an interior or help with fall and spring clean-ups.
  • Arrange or participate in a Holiday Drive. Any holiday—any time of year.
  • Organize a “Wear Jeans to Work” day—Donate $10 to wear jeans to work.
  • Create a 24/7 Club—Ask 24 friends for $7 and provide the paint supplies to freshen up an older house.
