YOU Can Make a Meaningful Impact on People Living in Poverty
Your gift of time and talent will improve the quality of life for those in need. Reach out to learn how individuals, friends, workplace teams, and faith communities can participate in preventing homelessness and improving lives, one room at a time.
Volunteer Opportunities
Groups of 10-20:
Seasonal Yardwork or Basement Clean-Up: Help to rake, trim, plant, mulch, and more to provide a beautiful home for residents. A group representative can meet in advance onsite with our staff to plan the project. We are especially grateful for groups that can contribute the materials for a successful volunteer event.
Painting: Your group of experienced painters can brighten up interior hallways and common spaces in a home or outside porches, decks, and railings with a fresh coat of paint.
Cook or Cater a Meal: Shop, prepare, and share a meal for a house, or have food delivered. You can do this in conjunction with a yard or painting project or as its own event.
Plan a Fun Gathering: Combat isolation and loneliness by sharing your musical talents, hosting a board game or movie night, or leading an art or writing workshop.
Groups of 20+:
Learn about our Mission: Our staff is happy to provide a live online or in-person educational presentation about the work we do to fight homelessness and improve the lives of extremely low- income individuals in Greater Boston. This can kick off a collection drive or other volunteer project for large groups.
Hold a Collection Drive:
Non-Perishable Food: Pasta, rice, tomato sauce, canned soups and stews, canned meats, fish, and beans, canned vegetables and fruit, cereal, vegetable oil, cake and cookie mix, granola bars and snacks
Toiletries: Shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, soap, lip balm, brushes, and combs, feminine hygiene products
Household Essentials: NEW twin sheet sets (regular length), towel sets, blankets and throws, pillows, cleaning supplies, dishware settings (plate, cup, bowl, fork, knife, spoon), small cutting board, table top fans, alarm clock with an AM/FM radio, laundry detergent
