Our commitment to our housing:

By specializing on the lodging house model, Caritas Communities has become a leader recognized for our expertise in developing, building and managing a type of housing that has almost disappeared: a clean and safe furnished room with shared bath and kitchen facilities affordable to the low wage working person.

Caritas is committed to the long-term ownership of its properties. A professional property management staff oversees the portfolio. Each property has a live-in house manager who is responsible for daily operations.

Our commitment to growth:

Caritas Communities actively pursues the purchase of existing rooming houses and similarly licensed properties (nursing homes, hotels) to develop into affordable SROs. We are interested in vacant sites on which to construct new SRO housing, similar to our development at One East Lenox Street in Boston. We also partner with, and serve as consultants to other organizations interested in developing SRO housing.

After twenty years of success we are able to assess and select promising projects for development and bring them to completion. We have long term partnerships with banks, foundations, governmental agencies and other nonprofits which give us the financial strength and relationships vital to success.
